CHAMALEON 2K Headlight Clear Coat is a two-component aerosol lacquer for professional headlight restoration. It delivers high gloss and exceptional transparency, seals the plastic and stops headlights going milky again. Made in Germany.
Why headlights go cloudy, and what this lacquer does
The polycarbonate lenses leave the factory with a thin protective film. UV light and road salt break it down: the lens yellows, micro-cracks appear, the beam scatters. Polishing alone brings the haze back within a season — without a new protective layer there is nothing to stop it. This lacquer is that layer, replacing the destroyed factory film.
What makes 2K different from an ordinary can
A separate hardener cartridge sits inside the can. You open it before use and the lacquer becomes two-component — the same chemistry as professional spray-gun systems. That is where the resistance to chemicals, fuel and de-icing salt comes from; single-component aerosols do not have it.

How to use it
Preparation
Remove the old degraded film with coarse sanding paper. Then work the surface in small steps with ever finer abrasive — for example P400 → P500 → P800 → P1000 → P1500. Degrease the headlight thoroughly. Mask off everything that should not be coated.
Activating the can
The hardener is in a separate inner cartridge. The sequence is:
- Remove the protective plastic cap
- Take out the metal ring, insert it through the metal pin and pull until it will not go any further
- Rotate the ring 360° to open the inner cartridge and release the hardener
- Shake the can vigorously for 3 minutes to mix the components
Spraying
The can should be at room temperature. Shake it for another 2 minutes and spray a test sample. Apply in 2–3 passes from 15–20 cm, allowing 2–3 minutes flash off between passes. Work at +12 to +25 °C with air humidity no higher than 80%, in a well-ventilated area, wearing a respirator (type A2/P3 recommended).
Drying
At 20 °C: dust free 5 minutes, set to touch 4–5 hours, completely dry 7 hours. Times depend on ambient temperature, humidity and film thickness.
After use
Clear the valve: turn the can upside down and press the nozzle for about 5 seconds.
Important: 24 hours once activated
Once the hardener cartridge is opened the lacquer has a 24-hour pot life at 20 °C. After that it cures inside the can and the remainder has to be discarded. So activate the can only when the headlights are already sanded, degreased and masked.

Safety and storage
According to the safety data sheet:

Contains isocyanates — may produce an allergic reaction. Wear an A2/P3 respirator, gloves and eye protection, and work in a well-ventilated area. Protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures above +50 °C. Do not pierce or burn the can, even when empty. Keep out of reach of children.
Frequently asked questions
How is this better than an ordinary aerosol lacquer?
It contains a hardener. A single-component lacquer dries by solvent evaporation and stays soft, so road chemicals and car washes eat it away. A two-component one cures chemically — the durability matches professional spray-gun systems.
Can I apply it without sanding?
No. The degraded factory film would stay underneath and the new layer would come away with it. The old coating has to be removed completely.
How many headlights does one can cover?
The manufacturer states 0.3–0.4 m². That is normally enough for a pair of car headlights with room to spare.
What if I do not use the can within a day?
The lacquer cures inside it. Once the cartridge is opened there is no way back — so activate the can only when everything else is ready.
