CHAMAELEON 552 Quick Fill is a lightweight 2K polyester fine body filler for closing small pores and levelling minor irregularities. It leaves a smooth, closed surface and has excellent standability on vertical panels. Made in Germany.
The colour tells you when it is ready
The filler turns from green to beige as it cures. This is not decoration but a visual check: while the surface is still green, the material has not set. No need to time it or test with a fingernail — the colour tells you when to start sanding.

On non-ferrous metals — aluminium and zinc-coated surfaces — the manufacturer advises applying a coat of Chamäleon epoxy primer first to ensure optimal adhesion.
How to use
Surface preparation
The substrate must be clean, dry and free from grease. Sand thoroughly and remove old or loose paintwork and priming coats. De-rust defective spots to bare metal and dry sand with P80/150 paper. Clean and degrease the whole surface again before every operation.
Mixing with hardener
Use Hardener P at 100:2 by weight. Do not exceed 3%! Both under- and overdosage of hardener cause spotting in the finishing paint layer. Mix the material thoroughly until uniform.
Application
Pot life at 20 °C is only 3–4 minutes. Mix only as much as you can apply in that time. Processing temperature must be at least +12 °C and air humidity no more than 80%. Below +10 °C polyester filler does not cure at all. Work in an adequately ventilated environment.
Drying and sanding
Sandable in 15–20 minutes at 20 °C, or 5–10 minutes at 60 °C. Sand with P120/240 paper. Dry sanding only — wet sanding is not permitted. Sand the entire surface to a matt finish before applying primer.
What not to do
- Do not apply over acid products (wash primer) or thermoplastic materials
- Do not overcoat with topcoats without first isolating the surface with Chamäleon 1K or 2K primer
- Do not return mixed material to the can
- Clean tools immediately after use, with nitro thinner if needed

Frequently asked questions
Why does the filler change colour?
It is a cure indicator. Green means the material has not set yet; beige means you can start sanding. No timing required.
Can it be wet sanded?
No. Polyester filler absorbs water, so dry sanding only.
Can it go over a wash primer?
No. The manufacturer explicitly prohibits applying polyester filler over acid (wash) primers and thermoplastic materials. The order is the reverse: filler on bare metal first, then wash primer.
Can I paint directly over the filler?
No. The surface must first be isolated with Chamäleon 1K or 2K primer, otherwise spotting will show through the topcoat.
