The IMPERIAL red carpet runner is 1.2 metres wide — a dense plain covering of heat-set polypropylene on a jute backing. Sold by the running metre or as a complete 30-metre roll.

What heat-set means and why it matters

Heat-set yarn is twisted and then fixed in shape with heat. Such yarn does not fluff out or lie flat underfoot, so the runner does not wear a track down the middle of a corridor. Plain polypropylene without heat treatment flattens within a season in a busy hallway.

Density of 282,000 points per m²

That is a high density for a polypropylene runner. The more points, the closer the tufts sit together: the covering carries load better, resists denting under furniture and heels, and keeps an even colour without bald patches for longer.

Jute backing

The backing is natural jute. It holds the shape of the cloth well, does not slide on smooth floors and lets air through. Important: jute does not tolerate excess moisture — the runner must not be soaked or flooded during cleaning, or the backing may distort and shrink.

Key specifications

  • Width — 1.2 metres
  • Pile height — 8 mm, low pile
  • Density — 282,000 points/m²
  • Weight — 1.5 kg/m²
  • Composition — 100% polypropylene, heat-set yarn
  • Backing — jute
  • Colour — plain red
  • Country — Türkiye

Why low pile is practical

At 8 mm doors swing over the runner without trimming, chairs and trolleys roll freely, and a vacuum lifts grit out of the pile instead of pushing it around inside. For corridors, stairs and busy rooms low pile beats deep pile.

Where it is used

  • Corridors and hallways in flats and houses
  • Stair flights and landings
  • Offices, receptions, meeting rooms
  • Shops, salons, showrooms
  • Hotels and banqueting halls
  • Events and ceremonies — the classic red carpet

How to order and how to calculate

The width is fixed at 1.2 metres; the roll is cut along its length. So you only need to work out the length: however many metres of corridor you are covering, order that many running metres.

  • Cut length — one running metre is a 1.2 × 1 m piece, that is 1.2 m². At 22 ₾ per m² this comes to 26.4 ₾ per running metre.
  • Full roll — 1.2 × 30 m, that is 36 m². Price 792 ₾.

Example: for a 7-metre corridor order 7 running metres — you get a 1.2 × 7 m piece (8.4 m²).

Weight — worth knowing before delivery

A running metre weighs about 1.8 kg, a full 30-metre roll about 54 kg. A whole roll is not a one-person carry: plan for two people to get it upstairs, or order a cut length.

Care

  • Vacuum regularly — low pile cleans easily
  • Treat stains with a mild detergent and a damp (not wet) cloth
  • Do not soak or hose down — the jute backing cannot take excess water
  • For deep cleaning prefer dry or foam cleaning
  • Polypropylene does not fade readily, though years of direct sun will lighten any textile

Frequently asked questions

Can I order a different width?

The width is fixed at 1.2 metres and the roll is only cut along its length. The same IMPERIAL runner is also available in 0.8 m, 1 m, 1.5 m and 2 m widths — each width is a separate item in the catalogue.

Do the cut edges need finishing?

The side edges come finished from the factory. The cross cut has no finished edge — in a busy spot it is better to overlock it or cover it with a threshold strip, otherwise it will fray.

Is it suitable for outdoor use or a terrace?

No. Polypropylene itself does not mind water, but the jute backing does. Outdoors you need a runner on a rubber or synthetic backing.

Does the red colour run?

Polypropylene is solution-dyed, meaning the colour sits inside the fibre rather than on its surface. It does not wash out or rub off. A slight release of surplus dye on the first damp clean is normal for saturated colours.

The manufacturer reserves the right to change the shade, density and specifications without prior notice. The image is for illustration only. The shade on screen depends on your monitor settings and room lighting and may differ from the actual colour — when matching a colour, rely on a sample rather than on the photograph. The runner is cut to order; length is measured with a tolerance of ±2 cm.
